About ShipName.net
ShipName.net is a web-based naming tool focused on couple names, fandom pairings, yumeships and selfships, character ships, and creative blended names.
We built the site to solve a narrow problem well: help people turn two to five names into labels they can inspect, edit, and use. That includes romantic nicknames, fan-created pairing names, yumesonas and fictional others, poly ships, gaming groups, story characters, and other creative combinations.
What We Aim For
- Clear, useful tools that work without unnecessary friction
- Original on-site content that explains how name blending works and when to use it
- Clear editing, copying, fragment-based sharing, browser-local saved choices, downloads, and existing-use checks
- A lightweight experience that works well on desktop and mobile
What You Can Find Here
- A focused ship name generator with pairing/group and yumeship/selfship setups, two-name blends, experimental all-member group drafts, concept names, and copy-ready relationship tags
- A browser-local Saved Choice Hub that reuses choices without requiring their source names and can restore a shared choice from a URL fragment
- Public engine regression checks tied to the production engine
- Guides about ship-name meaning, construction, wedding and handle validation, and cross-language limits
- A transparent methodology page that documents generation rules, selection criteria, and limitations
- Practical explanations that help users choose, compare, and refine ship-name ideas
How We Keep Pages Useful
We avoid publishing pages that are only thin forms or keyword lists. The generator documents its construction method and limits, and our articles are reviewed against an editorial checklist. See our Editorial Policy for more about how we create and review content.
