Terms of Service
Effective date: August 24, 2026
These terms apply to use of ShipName.net and its Shipname tools. By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Current Service
Shipname provides deterministic two-name blends, experimental three-to-five-name drafts, pairing/group and yumeship/selfship setups, optional concept names, pairing-tag formats, local editing, fragment-based sharing, name-card downloads, a browser-local Saved Choice Hub, existing-use search links, structural explanations, public engine regression checks, a limits report, and editorial guides.
The service does not currently offer accounts, subscriptions, payments, private cloud storage, professional naming advice, trademark clearance, or guaranteed handle availability.
Generated Results
Generated names are brainstorming suggestions. Scores compare visible character structure; they do not establish pronunciation, originality, legality, cultural suitability, community acceptance, or ownership.
Before public or commercial use, you are responsible for checking:
- established meanings and community conventions;
- trademarks, business names, domains, and account conflicts;
- unintended or harmful readings;
- the approval and privacy of people represented by the name;
- any law, platform rule, contract, or permission relevant to your use.
The same or similar output may be generated for other users.
Browser-Local Saved Choices and Shared Links
Saved Choice Hub entries are stored in the browser rather than a Shipname account. A valid older v2 shortlist may be migrated locally into the current v3 format. Browser settings, storage limits, private-browsing behavior, clearing site data, or service changes may remove local entries, so Shipname does not guarantee that saved choices will remain available.
A shared-choice link places the displayed choice and its output category in the URL fragment after #. That fragment is restored in the recipient's browser and is not sent as part of the HTTP request to ShipName.net. It is not a password, encryption method, or access-control system. You are responsible for deciding who receives the complete link and should not use it for secret, sensitive, unlawful, or rights-infringing information.
Acceptable Use
You may use the service for lawful creative and informational purposes. You may not:
- interfere with site operation or bypass reasonable rate limits;
- probe, exploit, or distribute security vulnerabilities;
- use automated traffic in a way that degrades the service;
- submit unlawful content or use outputs to harass, impersonate, defraud, or violate another person's rights;
- misrepresent Shipname output as an official endorsement, legal clearance, or factual determination.
Security issues can be reported to externalanswer@gmail.com.
Your Inputs and Use
You remain responsible for information you submit, save, share, and use. Do not submit or place in a shared link information you lack permission to use or unnecessary sensitive information.
Shipname does not claim ownership of the names you enter. We do not promise that a generated combination is protectable, available, or exclusive.
Site Content
Site design, documentation, regression-check presentation, software, and editorial material may be protected by applicable intellectual-property rules. You may link to public pages and use generated candidates for your own lawful brainstorming. You may not reproduce the site or its editorial corpus as a competing copy without permission.
Source materials linked from guides remain subject to their own terms and ownership.
Availability and Changes
We may modify, limit, suspend, or discontinue part of the service to maintain security, reliability, quality, or legal compliance. Engine changes are versioned where practical. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.
Disclaimers
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Shipname disclaims warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and availability.
Nothing on the site is legal, trademark, privacy, linguistic, or professional advice.
Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Shipname is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of, inability to use, or reliance on the service or generated results.
Some jurisdictions do not allow particular exclusions or limitations, so those provisions apply only to the extent allowed.
External Links
Links to external references are provided for context. We do not control their content, availability, or privacy practices.
Privacy
The Privacy Policy describes the current data flows, browser-local Saved Choice Hub, fragment-based sharing, privacy-minimized evidence, optional analytics, email contact, and provider processing.
Changes to These Terms
Material revisions will update the effective date on this page. Continued use after a revision means the updated terms apply from that date.
